What is your job on this show?
Actor.
Where were you born? Where were you raised? Where did you go to school?
I am American but was born and raised in Italy. I went to a British elementary school and international/American high school. I came to New York for college and theatre conservatory and have been here ever since. I guess I am an American-Roman-Expat with British undertones.
Why do you do theater (as opposed to film, or TV, or something not in the entertainment field)?
I love the theater. It's a very fulfilling experience to go through the entire arc of a character's journey in a condensed period of time. The theater is a distilled version of life. It creates a shared experience between the actors and the audience in which the stakes are very high, and hopefully it ends up being just as exciting for both sides.
Why did you want to write/direct/produce/act in/work on this show?
I'm really excited to be part of this show because I love the idea of presenting work in both Italian and English. I love language and the different ways it can be used, and think it's fascinating to see how the sounds and rhythms of different languages can make the same material very different. Also, it's been wonderful to discover Dino Buzzati's work. He's an incredible writer and I'm thrilled that this show will introduce new people to his work.
Which “S” word best describes your show: SMOOTH, SEXY, SMART, SURPRISING?
Surprising.
Who are your heroes?
Shakespeare, Ionesco, Jane Austen, The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Fellini, Stanislavsky, Chekhov, Anna Magnani, Giulietta Masina...those are a few that come to mind.
