VACUUM

nytheatre.com q&a preview by Beth Lincks

What is your job on this show?
co-producer.

Where were you born? Where were you raised? Where did you go to school?
I was born in Louisiana and raised in Florida, attending Rollins College. My MFA degree is from the Asolo Conservatory.

Why did you want to be part of FringeNYC?
I'm addicted to Fringe Festivals. I've produced and/or directed in Edinburgh four times. This is the fifth FringeNYC for The Journey Company; we were there from the beginning. I love the community, being part of something bigger than one show. FringeNYC gets better every year, I think, and the staff and volunteers do a wonderful job. I love seeing as many shows as possible.

Do you think the audience will talk about your show for 5 minutes, an hour, or way into the wee hours of the night?
I hope that they will talk about it for days and weeks. It raises some interesting questions and I bet some people will leave the show googling.

Which famous New Jerseyite would like your show the best: Snooki, Bruce Springsteen, Thomas Edison?
Thomas Edison. No question. Better still, Albert Einstein!

Theatre is a necessary ingredient in democratic societies. Do you agree or disagree, and why?
Theatre is a necessary ingredient in any society. It's necessary to tell our stories to each other and theatre is a way of doing that.
