What is your job on this show?
Choreographer.
When did you know you wanted to work in the theater, and why?
When I was 8 years old I was cast as Gladys Herdman in a production of The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. I had an absolute blast! I started taking dance classes and performing in more productions and the rest is history. Now I can't possibly imagine my life without theatre.
Why do you do theater (as opposed to film, or TV, or something not in the entertainment field)?
Film is great but theatre reaches people on a completely different level. It's personal and so visceral. There is a connection that is built during a live show between an audience member and a performer that you just can't get through a tv screen. Each performance is different and it's that knowledge that anything can happen that keeps it so interesting.
Why did you want to write/direct/produce/act in/work on this show?
I was very excited when I got the call to work on this show because it was the opportunity to collaborate on a new take on a classic. The opportunity to choreograph for a classic play taking a dramatic twist that includes dubstep does not come around every day.
Which “S” word best describes your show: SMOOTH, SEXY, SMART, SURPRISING?
Sexy, definitely sexy.
Can theater bring about societal change? Why or why not?
Absolutely, theatre holds up a mirror that reflects society upon itself. There is always something that will appeal to everyone and make them think about some aspect of their life, however small it may be.
