SPACE CAPTAIN: Captain of Space!

nytheatre.com q&a preview by Jeremy Mather
September 2, 2012

What is your job on this show?
Actor, Video Production.

Where were you born? Where were you raised? Where did you go to school?
I was born near Boston, but grew up on the west coast in Washington State. I did not go to college; instead I took the opportunity to move back east to New York City to get some street cred and some city-living skills.

What are some of your previous theater credits? (Be specific! Name shows, etc.)
I have been working with No Tea Productions since their inception and have worked on all 10 plays we've produced. More specifically, I wrote & directed "Poppycock" which was a farce-like play staged in 2010, co-wrote "Already in Progress," "Work: A Play" and contributed a scene to "Liars" in addition to acting in "Plucking Failures Like Ripe Fruit" and "Kentucky Goblin Siege."

Why did you want to write/direct/produce/act in/work on this show?
Space Captain: Captain of Space required a significant amount of filmed content to run throughout the show and I tend to be in charge of No Tea's video production when necessary. Because of the ambitious nature of what these videos were going to entail, I was highly excited to create them, in part because I had no idea how it might be possible. I think we have succeeded beyond what I thought we would accomplish and I think the show is all the better for their inclusion.

Which cartoon character would you identify your show with: Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Mickey Mouse, Marge Simpson?
Daffy Duck

If you had ten million dollars that you had to spend on theatrical endeavors, how would you use the money?
It's possible that I would buy my own theater space so I could run my own productions and have as much control as possible. Or I would put up one giant extravaganza show and actually be able to pay everyone involved. That would be good too...
