Bird in the Hand q&a preview by Jorge Ignacio Cortiñas
August 17, 2012

What is your job on this show?
Playwright, Director .

What type of theater do you like most to work on?
I like theater that can only be theater. That is fully theater. It's not enough for the event to be live, I like a project that pushes the form a bit, that revels in its own genre.

What are some of your previous theater credits? (Be specific! Name shows, etc.)
My most recent play in New York was Blind Mouth Singing. The National Asian American Theatre Company produced it. Kate Ashton did the lights and she's also working on Bird in the Hand. Mia Katigbak is the Artistic Director of NAATCO and she has been allowing Fulcrum to use their office space this month. Fulcrum is lucky to have access to such talented, generous collaborators.

Are there any cautions or warnings you’d like to make about the show (e.g., not appropriate for little kids)?
Please don't feed the flamingos on our stage.

Groucho, Chico, Harpo, or Zeppo?

Who are your heroes?
Fornes, Beckett, Arenas, Mandela and the cast of Bird in the Hand.
