What is your job on this show?
Producer/Co-composer.
What was the last show you saw that really excited you, and why?
Next To Normal really affected me in so many ways. Not only is it filled with beautiful music and humor, but it has dynamic, realistic characters and a powerful message that truly makes its audience think and analyze their own life. In this, I found inspiration and drive to reach an audience in the same way through STANDBY; to make an emotional change and instill a passion for life.
Why did you want to be part of FringeNYC?
Alfred and I began writing STANDBY in 2003 while living in California; all the while dreaming of being in this distant festival in New York City called the FringeNYC. We didn't know much more than its name and reputation for being at the forefront of new theatre, but we somehow knew that it was where we wanted our musical to be. Now here we are, nine years later, seeing that dream come to life!
In your own words, what do you think this show is about? What will audiences take away with them after seeing it?
STANDBY is about holding onto your passion for life. People these days are constantly faced and haunted by tragedies, guilt, and fear, and it takes an incredible amount of strength to move forward past these heartaches. Nevertheless, it can be done through love and forgiveness. I hope our audiences take with them a sense of peace and comfort in knowing that love will always prevail when given the chance.
Which famous New Jerseyite would like your show the best: Snooki, Bruce Springsteen, Thomas Edison?
The Boss of course, because STANDBY has passion, heart, and soul just like him and it rocks!
Why should people come to FringeNYC this summer, rather than the beach, mountains, or the latest movie blockbuster?
There is nothing that compares to live theatre, and the FringeNYC is where people can catch a glimpse of cutting edge productions that both entertain and inspire. FringeNYC is about the pride we all have in ourselves and the city that makes dreams come true.
