The Shallot

nytheatre.com q&a preview by Rachel Arbeit
October 20, 2012

What is your job on this show?
Playwright.

Where were you born? Where were you raised? Where did you go to school?
Born and raised in Westchester, NY - went to college at Northeastern University in Boston.

Complete this sentence: My show is the only one opening in NYC this fall that...?
is about the satirical newspaper, The Onion!

How did you meet your fellow artists/collaborators on this show?
I met Ethan Cherkasky (Director) at a Shakespeare performance in Westchester about 15 years ago, and have been friends ever since. I met Erin Stockie (Intern) when we were in flight attendant training together in 2007, unfortunately, that airline went bankrupt. We now work together again, having day jobs at the same advertising agency. I've enjoyed making Erin act in my plays. I met Brian Frange (John, Actors/Callers) on the NYC stand up comedy scene and became a fan immediately. The rest of the cast I met through the casting network the Manhattan Repertory Theatre provided and am thrilled to have found such great talent!

If you had ten million dollars that you had to spend on theatrical endeavors, how would you use the money?
I'd give all the unpaid actors in theatre in New York right now... which would probably be about $25 a person.
